“Whatever you are, be a good one.”
-Abe Lincoln
"Just be yourself and stand up for your beliefs..."
My dad told me this on my first day of school, and it has stuck with me ever since. I remember when I was consumed by the constant comparison of other classmates and competing with one another for the best titles in achievement. Its was a daily desire to fit into these molds. Fitting in hasn't always been a big struggle for me and I believe for the most part, I've been respected by my peers. Sometimes though all I want to do is break away.
Personally, I want to find happiness in being myself. It's taken a lot of thinking to figure out what I want to get out of life and how I am going to pursue this goal towards happiness. Throughout it all though, I keep in mind what Abraham Lincoln once said: Whatever you are, be a good one. No matter your angle, so long as you contribute in your special way, and are happy with your contributions there should be nothing else you should worry about. As humans we cannot fully see, let alone explain the purposes for our existence. All we can do is be strive for our own happiness.
