Journeys

Journeys. No matter how far the distance or trivial the trip, adventures are experiences definitive in their purpose. Hiking the Appalachian Trail or hiking in a back yard, each are meant to reveal a different outlook on life, and each will supply its own interpretations. Traveling in general is a favorite pastime for many, including myself. Most find it exciting, rewarding, expensive, intriguing, but most of all, transforming. While in my youth, I traveled to Australia for three weeks with People to People. Coming back from the trip, I experienced myself morphing into this new person I wasn't quite accustomed to. Now with a sense of global experience I felt as if I could make a serious global impact at the age of thirteen. Of course looking back that impact didn't happen. I diligently did my homework, sat on the couch mindlessly watching the tube, scraped my knees like it was nobody's business, rode by bike towards the tracks, and tried to become a well rounded kid. However, with the journeys I have experienced over the years, one insight has remained as a constant: Time is precious. The time spent in a lifetime can truly define an individual, and can end up dominating their happiness. Live life, and embark on the ultimate journey towards self-fulfillment, whatever that may be.
